Our Story

Our beginnings
Founded in January 2025 by Revd Caroline Ferguson, the Northern Lights Community Choir was born out of a simple vision: to create a space where music and community intersect to bring genuine joy to our neighborhood. It's also a place where people discover the physical.and mental.health benefits of singing and belonging.
Under the expert leadership of our Choir Director, Stuie Ellerton, we explore a rich and varied repertoire. Whether we are tackling soaring harmonies or contemporary favorites, our goal remains the same—to lift spirits and celebrate the power of song.
Why we’re different
We believe that singing is just the beginning. While we take our music seriously, we take our community even more so. In the Northern Lights Commiunity Choir, you aren’t just a voice; you are a valued member of a supportive family.
• A Warm Welcome: We strive to be a place where everyone feels they belong, regardless of their musical background.
Lasting Friendships: Our rehearsals are filled with laughter and enable us to find our collective voice. A place where friendships are made.
• Social events : offer the perfect chance to bond outside of music. We have regular pub nights, opportunities to attend the cinema, theatre and gigs together as well as Social nights. Whatever the event - a great time is always had by all.
•The Outdoor Club: We believe in harmony with nature as well as each other. Members can join our dedicated outdoor club for regular walks through the beautiful countryside, enjoying fresh air and great company.

A Growing Legacy
November 2025 marked a pivotal chapter in our history as we officially became a registered charity. We have a team of trustees, drawn from the choir, who work tirelessly to enable the choir to develop and flourish.
This transition reflects our commitment to long-term community impact. We are thrilled to share that our membership has since grown to 50 active members, and we continue to go from strength to strength.
